What is it?

A condtion characterised by calcification of the supraspinatus tendon.
Background
-
Involves the deposition of calcium hydroxyapetite crystals in the supraspinatus tendon
-
Occurs 1-2cm proximal to the insertion of the supraspinatus tendon at the greater tuberosity.

Epidemiology

Most commonly occurs between the ages of 30-50 years of age
-
Men are more commonly affected than women.
