"Le mouvement, c'est la vie" Lucas-Championnière 1895

Human body is an amazingly efficient machine that allows us to function in different ways. As long as we live, we move, climb up the stairs, walk, jump, run, bend and lift. It is easy to forget that the body is made up of an assortment of three-dimensional structures that are governed by the physical forces of nature.

Modern procedures of orthopaedics-joint replacement, fracture fixation- are impossible to successfully implement without a clear understanding of the biomechanical principles. Yet, their teaching is often neglected . But biomechanics can be interesting and enjoyable. I hope that visiting these pages would help one to better appreciate the biomechanical thinking behind everyday orthopaedic surgery.
